Wallpaper Removal in Dubai

Old, damaged or simply unwanted wallpaper stripped, the wall cleaned and made good, and the room left ready for paint or a new install. We assess before we quote, because the wrong answer here is expensive.

Why removal is its own job

Stripping wallpaper badly costs more than leaving it up. Pulled at the wrong angle, paper takes the paper face of the gypsum board with it, and what should have been a half-day strip becomes a skim, sand and repaint. We look at the wall first: what is on it, what is underneath, and whether it will come away dry.

Non-woven versus older vinyl

If the previous installation was modern non-woven, removal is usually dry. We lift a corner and pull the full drop away in one piece, leaving the wall intact. Older vinyls and paper-backed papers, and anything hung straight onto unsealed gypsum, need scoring and steaming, then a careful scrape. Papers fixed with a heavy solvent adhesive, which we still find in older Deira and Karama apartments, take the longest and are the most likely to need filling afterwards.

What “made good” means here

We do not stop at bare wall. Residual adhesive is washed off, because paint applied over it will crackle within months. Torn gypsum face is sealed and filled, screw holes and dents are filled and sanded flat, and the wall is left primed and ready. If you want us to do the repaint or hang something new, that is quoted separately and it is quoted honestly. We would rather lose the second job than surprise you on the invoice.

End of tenancy

Most of our removal work is handover-related. Landlords and management companies in Dubai generally expect walls returned to their original finish, and a disputed handover costs far more than the removal. We photograph the wall before and after and give you a dated invoice describing exactly what was done, which is usually all a landlord’s agent needs to release a deposit.

What it costs

Removal is quoted per square metre once we have seen the wall. A clean dry-strip sits well below the cost of a new installation; steaming and re-skimming cost more. We do not quote removal blind over the phone, because that number would be wrong and you would find out on the day.
